The Bazus was built for gathering. For nearly 150 years, this building has brought people together — over meals, over drinks, over the moments that matter. Whatever your occasion, the space adapts to fit it. Antique charm and modern convenience are already in place. Your caterer, your decorations, your vision — welcome.
Showers
Our most popular event, and it’s easy to see why. At 40 to 60 guests, a bridal or baby shower fits this space perfectly — enough room for a backdrop, game tables, a food and refreshment spread, and seated dining, without anyone feeling lost in the room. Guests can mingle at the high bar tables or settle into the antique furniture up front. The historic setting photographs beautifully, an asset which doesn’t hurt either.
Rehearsal Dinners
This is one of our fastest-growing events. Two antique cypress tables serve as head tables, paired with a matching cypress bar — simple, elegant, and already here. Add linens and a few well-chosen centerpieces and you have a rehearsal dinner setting that feels both intimate and significant. We can seat up to 60 or 70 guests comfortably for a sit-down dinner, so even a large wedding party and their families have room.
Milestone Celebrations
We host a lot of 50th, 60th, and 70th birthdays — occasions that deserve more than a restaurant back room. The antique sideboard makes a beautiful display for a special cake or dessert spread. Set it up as a formal dinner or a more relaxed cocktail party; the space works either way. Anniversary celebrations carry the same flexibility. The building itself has seen enough history to feel appropriate for honoring yours.
Holiday Parties & Corporate Events
Get your team out of the conference room. The Bazus works well for company holiday parties, awards dinners, client appreciation events, and off-site meetings — anything where you want people to actually relax and enjoy themselves. Cater in from one of New Iberia’s excellent local restaurants, put a presentation on the 65-inch display if you need to, and let the atmosphere do the rest.
Celebration of Life Gatherings
After a loss, you need a place where family and friends can be together comfortably — somewhere that isn’t your living room, and isn’t an event hall that feels too large or too impersonal. The Bazus provides a warm, quiet setting for those gatherings. The space is comfortable enough that people can sit, visit, and take their time.
Something Else Entirely
The events above are what we host most often, but they’re not the only option. If you have an occasion that doesn’t fit neatly into a category — a retirement party, a family reunion, a themed dinner, an engagement party, a graduation celebration — call us.
